What is El Valle Asociación de Propietarios? The Asociación was originally set up in 2004 to provide a meeting point for home owners in the Alcaucin and La Vińuela areas of Axarquia. It enabled members to discuss problems which they may have encountered and receive advice from others who may have had similar experiences. However, it's true to say that although those aims still exist, the Asociación also has a strong social side and many life-long friendships are forged through it. Although residents from the UK and Ireland make up around 95% of our membership we welcome members from any other nationality. In addition to the regular meetings the Asociación publishes a monthly newsletter for members - "Around the Valley". The newsletter contains articles of interest to members. The current issue is available 'on-line' by clicking on the menu-link above, previous editions may be found under the Downloads section. Contributions for the newsletter are actively encouraged and welcomed. They can be sent to the Editor or Chairman, see "Contact Us" above. The Asociación usually has a Committee member present at "Caramels (Chiringuito Antonio) - Farmer's Market" held in Venta Baja every Friday morning between 11.00 - 12.30pm. He (or she) is ready to answer any questions by members, and to welcome new members. But, please remember that the social committee representative will ONLY be at the market between the hours of 11.15am and 12.30pm. The Asociación organises regular events, trips to places of interest, to shows in the area, and has an annual Christmas/New Year party. Details of forthcoming events are published in the newsletter up to three months in advance and can also be found under the Events section. To book any of these events, please complete a booking form (see Downloads) and hand in at the "Chiringuito" or to the Secretary at a monthly members meeting. The Downloads page also includes recipes, birding articles and pool maintenance. Previous Newsletters and Asociación forms can still be found there. The Asociación has several groups which have been formed by members, these include a Drama Group, Walking Section, 10-pin bowling, Quaddies and a Photogroup. Details of several of these can be found at the Groups page.
