| Considering the time of year and the fact
that some of our “regulars” had returned to the UK for family
commitments, a surprisingly large number of us met up by the “river”
bridge just to the west of Puente don Manuel on the Periana road.
The walk was organised and led by Stewart and took the form of a
circular route from the bridge (point 1), across the main road and then
after climbing up the hillside we followed the tracks westwards towards
the waste management station (point 2) before descending back to the main
road and crossing over the old railway bridge at Estacion (point 3).
We then climbed back up the northern side of the valley (point 4) ,
past the numerous olive groves, before heading east and then south to the
foot of the old castle above Puente Don Manuel (point 5).
We then cut back southwest and made our way back to the start point.
The trip took us just over 2 hours and was on good tracks.
We finished the walk with a menu del dia at the Cruce bar by the
crossroads, where we were joined by a few “non-walking” regulars!
Verdict? A nice, gentle walk in good warm weather with a very
friendly group of people.
Next walk? Will be organised by Debs & David Cutts and will be
on 10th January 2008, starting from the Restaurant Romero at 11:15 for a
11:30 start. This will be followed by a menu del dia at the Venta bar in
Viñuela. Why not join us? |
