Walk on 12 June 2008 - around the northwest of Lake Viñuela

The walk was led by Stewart Common.

Despite a later start time (6pm) the weather was very warm as 17 of us (and Max) met up at Km 29 on the A-356 to the west of the dam.

The walk was to take us parallel with the A-356 before heading around the fields and groves that skirt the lake.

The newly relaid (and therefore dusty) track led us around the lake and gave us fine views of Maroma and Periana.

As we turned towards the west the olive groves were very well tended and the shadows formed regular patterns on the hillsides.

We then turned right and headed towards what was once the edge of the lake with its "Fishing area" signs now marooned high and dry, hundreds of metres from the waterline.

We paused at the "edge" of the lake to admire the view and take on water.

As we headed back along the lakeside we were overtaken by a group of the El Valle Quaddies before making our way back to the start point.

Following the walk a group of us met up with a couple of the quaddies at Patanos' for a relaxing meal.

Our thanks to Stewart for organising the walk.
