Trip to Cordoba, 7 November 2007

by Doug Poplett & Jackie Godfrey

24 members and 11 guests made a day trip to Cordoba on Wednesday 7th November. Leaving Hotel Romero at 7am, the bus driven by Paco travelled north via Caserbermeja and Antequera, after a short stop for refreshments we eventually arrived in historic part Cordoba about 10.30am

High on the agenda for Jackie and I was the magnificent “Mezquita” the Cathedral of Cordoba (pictured) originally an Islamic Mosque captured by the Christians in 1236, the highlight of the day.

There were many places of interest that we enjoyed, The Jewish Synagogue, Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, The Arab Water Mill and Roman Bridge to name but a few.

To visit all that Cordoba has to offer would take longer than the one day but personally an enjoyable and worth while trip.

Our thanks to the organisers and Christine Goreham who kindly downloaded and printed places of interest and map from the Internet.
